UK Heelys are going from strength to strength. With the launch in the UK just a couple of years ago, this Christmas has seen a boom in the wheeled trainer phenomenon. Kids up and down the country have put
heelys roller trainers on their wish list and parents are finding these cool skate shoes hard to resist.
In addition to the fashion statements associated with
Heelys, health benefits abound as kids get out and get rolling! So much is written about unhealthy couch-potato children that Mums and Dads are finding the wheeled trainers too much to resist. Miminal effort on the part of the children (or so they believe) but maximum effort in terms of
heelys fitness.
A great invention from heelys in the US. A true skaters delight.
Roller Derby Quad Skates
The roller derby quad skates are an awesome example of modern technology and engineering. Fully padded, with a speed boot design and super-cool looks, they are the epitomy of style, fitness and fun. In both mens and womens models, these quad skates offer the ultimate wheeled statment.
Rumour has it that one of the
Heelys skate shoes online retailers will be supporting and promoting a 'Heelys Challenge': a fun-filled, action packed competition for those expert in gliding and doing stunts on their roller trainers. Watch this space
The latest wheeled fitness craze, inline skates is gaining increasing momentum. From immense popularity 12 years ago to skate oblivion, the comeback is starting to develop with skate groups and circuits being developed in the capital and spreading to the home counties and beyond. Inline skating (and, indeed, quad skating) is rapidly becoming the new fitness fad.... and with the great ergonomic design and latest technology available to manufacturers, this is the year for high quality production!

Socks are an important accessory to any pair of skates. I suggest a pair of ski socks, but some people prefer thinner alternatives. Ankle socks or thin nylon socks are not recommended for streetskating!
You should aim for a pair of skates that feel snug, but not too tight and for the sake of streetskating I recommend something with a hard shell, like the FSK Salomon Crossmax or Deemax range. You should be able to move your toes, but the boot shouldn’t be loose enough to let the foot move too freely!
SE Racing has been one of the coolest BMX brands for almost thirty years. In 1973, Scot Breithaupt was the first person to organise & promote BMX races. Not long afterwards, he created the company called SE Racing.
After 15 years of riding professionally,
SE Racing convinced Todd “Wildman” Lyons to hop off his bike for a minute to come in & make some radical changes to the 2006 line. The tweaked SE Bmx is more awesome than ever & now available in the UK at
wheeled fitness.
Free Skates (or Urban Skates) are a cross between aggressive and recreational inline skates. These skates are very popular for street skaters & are designed to withstand the unpredictable road surfaces of the urban jungle we call our City. They have larger wheels like recreational skates & share the shorter wheel base design of the aggressive frames, but they lack the gap in the middle for grinding (who needs it anyway?). Great fun, fitness and health on wheels!
